The Arts Council hosts Georgia Artists with Disabilities exhibit

img_9224The Arts Council, Inc., opens its doors to Georgia Artists with Disabilities, Inc. once again. The free visual arts exhibit will be open to the public from Monday January 9, 2017 through Monday, January 30, 2017 – Monday through Friday from 9am-4pm. each week.

The exhibition is located on the second level of the historic Arts Council Smithgall Arts Center at 331 Spring Street SW, Gainesville, GA. Our facility is entirely handicap accessible.

In 1985, the Pilot Clubs of Atlanta founded Georgia Artists with Disabilities, Inc. (GAWD) to offer disabled artists throughout our state an opportunity to display and sell their original art, to compete for awards and join other noteworthy artists in a statewide tour.

GAWD continues its efforts by focusing on a theme from its inception – Visions and Dreams, Tomorrow’s Reality.

Each exhibition includes several mediums of artwork such as painting, pottery, quilting, photography, woodwork and others. GAWD’s main goal, throughout the years, has been to identify and recognize those disabled citizens of Georgia who are creative, capable and talented in the arts.

While many of Georgia’s disabled have talent, few have the means to have their talents displayed to the public. GAWD helps make their dreams a reality. The Arts Council, Inc. is pleased to bring this work to its community at no cost to the public.
