The Arts Council announces 2017 Summer MusicFest line-up

The Arts Council proudly announces its 2017 Summer MusicFest™ line-up. This year’s live performances include the Joe Gransden Big Band featuring guest vocalist Annie Sellick (June 3), the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (June 16), The Northwinds Symphonic Band, a Patriotic Pops Concert (July 3), Back in Time (August 5) and Riverstreet (August 19).
Joe Gransden Big Band featuring guest vocalist Annie Sellick – June 3. The Joe Gransden Big Band is a seventeen-piece ensemble that harkens back to an era when the Great American Songbook, swing music and the big band sound was all the rage. In this time of digital overload, where music is often produced by synthesized sounds, electronic drum machines and auto-corrected vocals, Gransden and his band have challenged convention and found an audience that still appreciates the incredible sound that can only come from hearing a finely tuned big band with all the power, beauty and awe that it can produce in a live setting.
Featured vocalist Annie Sellick, who hails from Nashville, is a Gainesville favorite having performed at The Arts Council’s Evenings of Intimate Jazz series for several years. Her demand has outgrown the small space dedicated to our annual Jazz series so we are offering more of Annie’s inimitable talent and charm. Tickets: Adult $28; Senior (65+) $25; Student $20; Table for 8 $274.
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra featuring guest vocalist Robert Cantrell – June 16. With 27 Grammy® wins this symphony will celebrate its 41st anniversary with The Arts Council. The Arts Council welcomes back Gainesville native Robert Cantrell in his debut performance with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Robert found his voice as a member of Gainesville High School’s Crimson Chorus. This is a homecoming of sorts for Robert who continues to be a tour-de-force on the Baltimore/Washington opera scene. Tickets: $35 Adult; $32 Senior; $28 Student; Table for 8 $320.
