Georgia’s Spirit of Appalachia Food, Wine & Art Festival Set for September 16

The second annual Spirit of Appalachia Food, Wine & Art Festival is set for Saturday, September 16. This Georgia Grown event is a celebration of the senses and will be held at Hardman Farm Historic Site in picturesque Sautee Nacoochee.
Celebrity chefs from north Georgia will prepare mouth-watering samples on site using the Georgia grown products of food and farm producers from across the state. Georgia wines and craft beer will be poured and sold. Regional food vendors will offer mouth-watering fare, and Georgia’s artists and craftsmen working in all mediums will display and sell their creations. The live music soundtrack for the day is all Georgia performers.
The chef and food tasting area of Spirit of Appalachia will be abuzz with culinary creativity. Chefs, including Holly Chute, Executive Chef for the Georgia Department of Agriculture, will be demonstrating delicious dishes every half hour. Many will use chicken provided by presenting sponsor, Springer Mountain Farms, producer of humanely raised poultry. Throughout the day, other chefs, such as Lee Epting with Epting Events, will offer tastings of their creations.
On stage all day at Spirit of Appalachia will be four Georgia performers. Headlining is the Steve Bryson Band, a locally based group presenting Southern Rock, Blues, Gospel and Traditional Country. Others performing beginning at 10 a.m. are Heidi Holton, John Emir and Tommy Townsend, lead singer for Waymore’s Outlaws.
The home of Governor Dr. Lamartine Hardman, set in the enchanting Nacoochee Valley, will be open to visitors and staffed during the festival.
Entrance to Spirit of Appalachia is free. Parking is $10 per vehicle. Tickets for food, wine, and beer tastings will be sold on site. Festival hours are 10 AM until 5 PM.
Area accommodations range from picturesque bed and breakfasts and rental cabins to franchise hotels and state park lodges.
