Braselton Councilmember Tony Funari received the prestigious Certificate of Achievement from the Harold Holtz Municipal Training Institute at the Georgia Municipal Association’s (GMA) Mayors’ Day Conference in Atlanta in January.
The Institute, a cooperative effort of GMA and the Carl Vinson Institute of Government of UGA, provides a nationally recognized series of training opportunities for elected city officials. To receive the certificate, a city official must complete a minimum of 72 units of credit, including at least 36 hours from the required list. The training program consists of a series of more than fifty courses.
“This is an outstanding achievement for Councilman Funari,” said GMA executive director Lamar Norton. “We commend him for this accomplishment and for the dedication he’s shown in using this valuable resource to become a more effective city official.”
Elected to the Braselton Town Council in 2008, Funari is president of Funari Realty. He is a member of the Braselton Rotary Club and the Northeast Georgia Health Systems Foundation.
